HRWORKS Charity Challenge: And the Winner Is Denise BrozCongratulations to Denise Broz of McDonald's CorporationHRworks is pleased to announce Denise Broz from McDonald's Corporation as the winner of the Charity Challenge. The HRworks Charity Challenge gave people the opportunity to explain how they were helping in their community to earn the chance to win a $1,000 donation to the charity of their choice. Denise was randomly selected and will receive a $1,000 check for the charity of her choice. ' We are proud to include Denise in our community outreach program for her charitable contributions in the Chicago community, ' said Terry Long, chairperson of HRworks' employee-driven organization, CHARITYworks. ' CHARITYworks' heritage is driven by our cultivated values to inspire, motivate and serve those around us in our employee body, the business world and community as a whole. ' Denise led a team within the McDonald's Corporation that organized a month of various community service events involving both employees and their children. Throughout the month of service, over 100 employees and 80 family members volunteered for over 1,000 hours of service in the Chicago community. The month benefited a number of charities, including the Chicagoland Ronald McDonald Houses, Lamb's Fold Women's Shelter, the Greater Chicago Food Depository, Bethesda Home and Retirement Center, and Humanitarian Service Project. In 2007, CHARITYworks conducted 22 events supporting a variety of charitable causes. Employees may donate their time and talent for some activities, while offering financial contributions or collecting items for other projects. More than 80 percent of HRworks employees participate each year. Initiatives in 2008 will include constructing HRworks' fifth Habitat for Humanity house, sponsoring Special Olympics Georgia Winter Games, collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House, participating in the Great Strides walk for Cystic Fibrosis, Armed Forces Month ' adopting ' U.S. service members and a series of other community events.
